About Luz Chacón

Wellness Coach | Consultant | Founder of Live-Work Well

I'm Luz Chacón — a bilingual Wellness Coach, EFT Tapping Practitioner, and the founder of Live-Work Well. For over 35 years I worked in the nonprofit health and social services sector, and for the past decade I've channeled that experience into coaching and consulting work that sits at the intersection of personal health and employee wellbeing.

I hold a Master's in Public Health and advanced certifications in health coaching, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT/Tapping), and trauma-informed EFT. But credentials only tell part of the story.

At 50, I was the one hitting the wall. I was exhausted, dealing with digestive issues, blood sugar swings, and insomnia, while managing a demanding career and raising two sons on my own. Becoming a health coach didn't just give me tools to help others. It transformed my own health. That turning point is why I do this work, and it's what allows me to meet my clients exactly where they are.

Since 2013 I've worked with private coaching clients. In 2017, I expanded into corporate wellness, and in 2018 into workplace wellness consulting for nonprofit and social service organizations bringing an approach grounded in empathy, evidence-based practice, and deep respect for the communities my clients serve.

Why I do this work

My Turning Point

I didn't set out to become a health coach because I had it all figured out. For years I developed and led programs in the nonprofit sector -- developing curricula, building structures, training teams. I loved the creation. But as my career progressed, the work shifted more toward management and administration, and somewhere along the way I lost the part I loved most: directly educating and supporting women.

Watching the coaches on my team do that work every day, I realized I wanted it back. I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Training Program initially as a way to reconnect with my passion but what I didn't expect was that the training would change my own life in the process.

At the time, I was struggling with fatigue, brain fog, digestive issues, and mood swings, and normalized these symptoms as just part of a busy life. What I discovered was that they were rooted in hormonal changes and an imbalanced gut microbiome. By shifting my eating habits and rebalancing my lifestyle, I reclaimed my health. Fifty became my turning point, not a decline, but a reset.

When I began coaching clients, I saw something familiar: brilliant, committed women who knew what they needed to do but couldn't seem to get there. Chronic stress and unresolved emotional patterns were getting in the way. That's when I integrated EFT/Tapping into my practice, a powerful tool for releasing the beliefs and emotional triggers that block lasting change, even when you know better.

My Approach

Mind-Body Wellness That Lasts

Whether I'm working with an individual client or a mission-driven organization, my approach is rooted in the same core pillars of sustainable wellness: stress reduction, nutrition, movement, sleep, and emotional regulation.

For individuals, I take a root-cause approach, looking beyond symptoms to understand what's driving them, whether that's blood sugar instability, gut imbalance, chronic stress, or unresolved emotional patterns.

For organizations, I bring that same depth to workplace wellness by designing programs and consulting services that address the real stressors facing health and social service teams, from compassion fatigue to leadership burnout.

In both contexts, I meet clients and teams where they are, with empathy, evidence-based tools, and a deep understanding of what it takes to make real, lasting change.
