I'm passionate about helping people transform their health and emotional wellbeing and take pride in my skills as a holistic, compassionate, trauma-informed coach.
I worked in the health and social services field for over 30 years and in 2016 left the nonprofit sector to focus on building my wellness coaching and consulting business. I've been working with private clients for 10 years and in corporate/workplace wellness for over seven years.
My academic background includes a Master’s degree in Public Health, Certification as a Health Coach, Certification in Emotional Freedom Techniques/Tapping, and Certification in Tapping Out of Trauma.
I have expertise in functional nutrition, gut health, mind-body stress management modalities, chronic disease prevention, trauma-informed care, maternal and child health, environmental toxins, and reproductive health.
My lived experience as a first generation immigrant from Mexico, growing up in a working-class family, and many years of serving low-income, marginalized communities of color informs my understanding of the need to support the wellbeing of underrepresented people/employees. I'm bilingual and aslo provide coaching and workshops in Spanish.
After working in managerial roles in the public health field for many years, I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s Health Coach Training Program because I wanted to return to working more directly with clients rather than being a manager. Little did I know this decision would transform my own health.
During my health coach training in 2013, I broke up with sugar after discovering that various seemingly random symptoms I was experiencing were related to an imbalance in my gut microbiome. Changing my diet to mostly whole, real food eliminated all those symptoms including fatigue, brain fog, heartburn, mood swings, and more.
Once I started coaching clients, I recognized that many struggled to stick to healthy eating habits because they had an ingrained pattern of soothing their stress and/or escaping from their emotions with food. This led me to integrate EFT/Tapping into my practice as a way to better address the underlying stress that often results in emotional eating.
As a holistic, mind-body practitioner, I recognize the importance of helping with both physical and emotional issues. Whether I’m working with private clients or employees, I address stress, eating habits, physical activity, sleep, toxins, self-care habits, and life balance.
My training in attachment theory and as a trauma-informed EFT Tapping Practitioner informs my practice of helping clients release patterns that develop early in life as a result of adverse experiences. This involves supporting clients to release emotional blocks, limiting beliefs, unhealthy habits, and stuck patterns that may have started as a protective mechanism, but no longer serve them.
My training in functional nutrition allows me to support clients in addressing the biochemical imbalances, gut, and dietary issues that can contribute to physical symptoms and health conditions, particularly diabetes, hypertension, elevated cholesterol, and other metabolic issues.
